Anita Briones

November 20, 1946 — February 6, 2025

Anita Campos Briones, 78, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Carlsbad, NM, on Thursday, February 6, 2025. 

Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home and a time of sharing memories and kind words will begin from 6:00 PM -7:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Calvary Assembly. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home will oversee the arrangements.

Anita was born November 20, 1946, in Carlsbad, NM to Francisco and Julia (Duran) Campos, Jacquez. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1964. Throughout the years, she took care of countless elderly people. Anita also cherished and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them. Known for her incredible cooking skills, Anita had a passion for cooking and especially loved preparing meals for her family during the holidays. Her kitchen was filled with laughter and the delicious aromas, creating unforgettable memories for everyone who gathered around the table. One thing Anita required of her family was punctuality; being on time for any family event was a must. This consistent expectation reflected her deep love for her family and her commitment to making every occasion special.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dionne Briones; sister, Velma Duran Campos; brother, Manuel Campos; and great-granddaughter, Christiana Angel Munoz.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ann Munoz (husband Dick), Dee Dee Ann Lewitt (husband Victor), and Renee Lynne Briones (husband Robert Cooke). Anita was a cherished grandparent to Chelsea Munoz, Nicole Henson (husband Brad), Charles Dylan Munoz (wife Elena), Kendall Munoz, Paige Schuller, Betty Lee Schuller (husband Justin Henderson), Joshua Schuller (wife Jessica), Brooke Fry, William Jacob Fry (fiancé Alize), Peyton Paxton (husband Dillon), Mason Sillas, Clayton Cooke, Cody Cooke, and a great-grandmother to Addilyn, Kairos, Michael Calvin, Caleb, Joshua, Grace, Maya, Annie, Jaxon, Jema, Morgan, Makayla, Aurora, Noah, Liam, Miles, Chloe, Marceline, Charlie Jo, Braelynn, and Tucker.

She is also survived by her siblings Joe Campos, Margie Martinez, Martin Campos, Mary Herrera (husband Raul), Dorothy Granger, Rudy Duran, Frankie Jacquez, Elsie Estrada, Loretta Martinez, Robert Jacquez (wife Patricia), Donny Campos, Ruben Campos (wife Marty), Rudy Campos, Frank Campos (Diane), Anthony and Elba Alanzo, and many nieces and nephews. Anita's smile and light will be remembered fondly. May her memory bless all who knew and loved her.

The Pallbearers will be Dylan Munoz, Joshua Schuller, Jacob Fry, Mason Sillas, Anthony Alanzo, Clayton Cooke, Cody Cooke, and Brad Henson. 

The family would like to thank Lakeview Christian Hospice for the exceptional care they gave Anita.
