Angelita "Chita" Gonzales, 81, of Pecan Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2014, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, October 3, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Agnel Anthony officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Angelita "Chita" Gonzales was born December 5, 1932 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Inocente A. and Ester R. (Loya) Leyva. Chita was known for her great Super Bowl parties and was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved spending time with her grandkids, babysitting children and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Santana Gonzales; daughter, Yoli Gonzales; two sons: Robert Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales; sister, Tommie Cerda and brothers: Porky Leyva, Pete Leyva and Delbert Leyva. Survivors are daughters, Olga Farnam and husband, Tom of Snohomish, Washington; sons: David Gonzales of Carlsbad, NM, Danny Gonzales and wife, Gwen of Carlsbad, NM, Rik Gonzales and wife, Amanda of El Rito, NM; grandchildren: Alan, Jennifer, Alana, Jordan, Marcos, Zach; great-grandaughter, Victoria; sister, Silver Navarrette of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
