Angela Aycock Benavidez, 57, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Angela was born August 31, 1958 to H.B. (Rocky) and Linda Aycock in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Angela attended Carlsbad Senior High School, graduating in 1976 with honors and 14th in her graduating class. Angela was also a valued member of the High School Choir.
During her years in Carlsbad, Angela had a kind and gentle heart, often taking in helpless 4-legged and 2-legged creatures under her caring arms, and as a child creating interesting concoctions for her brother, sister and neighborhood friends to partake in. She is remembered by many as the sweet little girl in the ballerina tutu, with the beautiful blonde hair and gentle spirit.
Angela was preceded in death by her father H.B. (Rocky) Aycock, her younger brother Antony Ben Aycock, and her partner Joe Looney. Her survivors include her mother Linda Lou Aycock who resides at Landsun Nursing home in Carlsbad, her younger sister Alicia Aycock Bailey and Alicia's son Ryan Bailey both from Chicago, Illinois, Angela's daughter Christina Benavidez of Carlsbad, and Christina's children Avery Hinojos 10, Frankie Hinojos 9, and Jonah Hinojos 2. She also leaves behind a big network of extended family, and friends who cared for her.
Private services will be held at the columbarium of First United Methodist Church. A public reception will be held June 22, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Narthex at First United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
