Angel T. Mata

Angel T. Mata, 34, of Elmdale Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 11, 2012. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Monday, April 16, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Monday, April 16, 2012, 6:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Angel T. Mata was born November 13, 1977 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Helen Tarin Mata. He was currently working as an apprentice electrician for Dixie Electric. Angel's passion was boxing. He competed in the MMA Pro circuit and taught kids boxing at the MMA The Cage Gym. He worked as a security guard for Extreme Security which he thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie with his guard brothers. Music and concerts were a large portion of Angel's life. He and Heather never missed an opportunity to see their favorite bands. His close friendship with Sam Hughes and Marshall Harrod were a big part of his music enjoyment. Angel loved spending time with his family and his personal touch when grilling always brought the family together. He was preceded in death by his Tia, Lydia Juare. He is survived by his wife, Heather R. Mata of Carlsbad, NM; two sons: Jacob Mata, Xavier Sanchez; two daughters: Angel Sanchez, Angelique Mata; mother, Helen T. Mata; sister, Nancy T. Mata; aunt, Rosalinda Arnold all of Carlsbad, NM; three nieces: Desirae Jimenez, Jasmine Mata, Camrie Mata; mother-in-law, Kathy McCarroll of Carlsbad, NM and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Morales, Richie Jimenez, Ralph Morales, Jeremy Clifford, Xavier Salcido, Adrian Fierro, Nick Rodriguez, Julio Leija, Junior Jaure, Damian West, Jimmy Westfall, Manuel Sanchez, Joe Mata, Sunny Jaure, Leonel Hernandez, Jessie Duran, Bill Methola, Rudy Rodriguez, Gerald Anaya, Bret Heidelberg, Richard Saiz, Justin Owens, Eddie Lopez, Wade Mobley, Eddie A. Lopez, Bryce Young, Nic Coston, John Patterson, Jeff Duarte, Sammy Saiz, John Duran, Chano Luceroa and David Lopez .
