Anastacio Terry “Tacho” Martinez Sr., 72, born to Anastacia Martinez on May 2, 1952, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A Rosary is scheduled 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2025, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at San Jose Catholic Church, with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Terry was raised and educated in Carlsbad, NM by his stepfather, Luis Ruiz. He worked as a roofing supervisor in construction. Terry was married to Elvira Chavez for 18 years, during that time they had 6 children together. Terry was the life of the party and never failed to make others laugh. He always had a smile to give. During his free time, he enjoyed whittling and crafting wood projects. He also loved listening to Oldies music and dancing. He is remembered for playing slow pitch softball. From being an umpire, to pitching and even coaching his team, The Renegades, for almost 20 years. He will be forever remembered and missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Anastacia Martinez and Luis Ruiz; son, Terry A. Martinez Jr.; sister, Katarina Ruiz; brother, Christopher Ruiz; niece, Frida Ruiz, and other family members.
He is survived by his children: Fermin Sedillo and wife, Nancy; Brenda Fernandez and husband, Yohan both of Phoenix, AZ; Teresa Martinez and Chris Juarez; Rachel Cherney and husband, Danny; Nicole Aguilera and husband, Jaime, all of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Terry Martinez, of Midland TX; siblings: Luis Ruiz; Edward Ruiz; Ernest Montez; Peggy Ruiz; Lucy Ruiz, and Kathy Ruiz. As well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
