Ana Maria Sanchez, 76, of 108 N. Cypress Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 5, 2024, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  A Christian Memorial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.  Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ana Maria Sanchez was born November 5, 1947, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua to Julian Rey and Jacinta Natera.  She moved to Kermit, Texas in 1970s with her sister and that is where she met her husband, Leo Sanchez, Jr.  Together they made a life in Carlsbad, NM.  She worked at The Cortez for several years. Then later as a radio announcer for KCCC Spanish radio station.

In 1994, she started to serve the Lord. Throughout her life, she ministered to many people and touched their hearts.  When it came to God’s work, she was unstoppable. She was a strong prayer warrior and prayed for many people.  Many saw her as a mother.  She was considered a spiritual mother to Anthony and Connie Maldonado, and Terry and Pam Seal.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Sanchez, Jr.; sisters: Martina Carreon and Petra Gutierrez.

Survivors are her children: Joanna Sanchez, Caesar Sanchez and wife, Kim; grandchildren: Gabriella and Isabella Sanchez; sister, Concepcion (Concha) Pando and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chris Aranda, Naythan Aranda, Jose (Jr.) Marquez, Jesus (Jr.) Nevarez, Izaiah Navarro and Anthony Maldonado.
