Alvin T. Boren

Alvin T. Boren, 90, of Farris Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no visitation. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2013, 1:00 PM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor Randy C. Land officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Alvin T. Boren was born September 23, 1922 in Kress, Texas to Thomas Kennion and Effie May (Lee) Boren. He owned Boren's Shoe Shop in Carlsbad. Alvin and Retta were married June 18, 1942. He was a member of Cavern Baptist Church. Alvin enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was a wonderful gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Retta R. Boren; son, Alvin K. Boren, several brothers and sisters. He is survived by son, Donald D. "Don" Boren of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Donna J. Boren of Carlsbad, NM, Judy K. Smith and husband, Ernest of Carlsbad, NM; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Chester Boren and wife, Mary of Texas.
