Alvaro N. "Al" Carnero, 60, of San Jose Blvd., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2011, 4:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca.
Mass of Christian Burial is are scheduled for Monday, December 12, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Alvaro N. "Al" Carnero was born February 19, 1951 in Loving, New Mexico to Felipe and Irene (Nieto) Carnero. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971. Al worked at Calvani Farms for several years. He married Christina Gomez on June 5, 1982 here in Carlsbad. Al began work at Constructor's, Inc. in 1982, where he was currently employed. He had a great love for coaching and umpiring. Al was chief umpire for ASA and USSSA for many years. He had a passion for baseball and especially enjoyed Little League. Al had a unique way of bringing laughter into anyone's life no matter how difficult the situation. He was a long time member of San Jose Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Christina Carnero of Carlsbad, NM; three sons: Alvaro Carnero, Jr. and wife, Jerrica of Las Cruces, NM, Isaac Moralez of Carlsbad, NM, Christopher Carnero of Carlsbad, NM; four brothers: Jessie Carnero of Big Spring, TX, Felipe Carnero of Carlsbad, NM, Andrew Carnero and wife, Teresa of West Covina, CA, Arturo Carnero of Tucson, AZ; sister, Oralia Espinoza and husband, Joe of Carlsbad, NM; father and mother-in-law, Juan and Manuela Gomez of Carlsbad, NM; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Alvaro Carnero, Jr., David Rodriguez, Mario Carnero, Jose Carnero, Efrien Nieto and Jose Antonio Nieto. Honorary pallbearers are his brothers-in-law: Daniel Gomez, Michael Gomez and Hank Beason.
