Alice Ruiz

Alice Ruiz, 72, of Malaga, NM, passed away May 22, 2023 at Carlsbad Medical Center.  Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery (old section). Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Alice was born July 5, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM to Matilde and Mikaela (Franco) Segura.  She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1968 and attended beauty school in California.  Alice returned to Carlsbad where she worked as a cosmetologist for many years.  She met John E. Ruiz in 1996 and were later married.  Alice was a beautiful soul, inside and out.  She was always giving her time and heart to others in need.  Alice loved to garden, cook yummy food and feed anyone that crossed her path.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Adam Segura.

Survivors are her husband, John E. Ruiz; son, Victor Garcia; daughters: Angie Sobalvarro and Lisa Chavez; grandchildren: Tori Garcia, Alexa Garcia, Rommel Sobalvarro and wife, Lacey, Maja Sobalvarro, Clarice Schriner and husband, James, Analeea Elliott and husband, Noah; great-grandchildren: Jamie, Connor, Landon, Kingston, Oliver, Espen and Jasper; brother, Abel Segura; sisters: Anita Duran, Amelia Osorio and husband, Elias, and numerous nieces and nephews.
