Alford C. "Al" Johnson, 84, of West Church Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 28, 2012 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin and Pastor John Hinze officiating.

Alford C. "Al" Johnson was born January 14, 1928 in Ropesville, TX to William Jackson and Sally Ethel (Dozier) Johnson. He was a member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church. Al was a US Navy Veteran. He worked in the insurance industry for American National as a broker/salesman. He owned a barbershop for awhile. He and Roberta were married on May 5, 1990. Al liked to work with tools and weld in his spare time. He loved to fish and play dominos and cards. Al was a strong and faithful Christian who loved to share the word of the Lord. He served as an ordained minister and would help in churches. After he retired he stood out front of the locals businesses and would hand out bibles handing out over a thousand English and Spanish bibles. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Johnson of Carlsbad, NM; son, Bill A. Johnson and wife, Missi of New Braunsfel, TX; daughter, Denise Lynn Thompson and husband, David of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren: David Johnson and wife, Sara of El Paso, TX, Cody Johnson and wife, Tasha of Oklahoma; Katie Kessler and husband, Lee of Schertz, TX, Skyler Nelson, Zach Nelson, Justin Thompson and Jessica Rivera of Chandler, AZ, Christina Ulibarri and husband, David of Apple Valley, CA; great-grandchildren: Bea Johnson, Vincent Johnson, Kamrin Kessler, Rylea Kessler, Sophia Elyse Thompson, Vincent Isaiah Thompson, Deziree Lynn Ulibarri, Sydni Tyler Ulibarri, Riley Layreng Ulibarri; nieces: Patricia June Johnson of Denton, TX, Tennie Gatto of Spring, TX, Rhonda Mitchell of Sidney, OH; nephews: Donnie Johnson of Crowley, TX, Gayle Johnson of Arlington, TX and numerous great-nieces and nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be made to Happy Valley Baptist Church, 4103 West Texas Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220.
