Alfonso "Poncho" B. Molinar

Alfonso B. Molinar, 86, of Molinar Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 21, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, September 24, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Chaplain Michael Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Alfonso Burgess Molinar was born September 10, 1924 in Terlingua, TX to Paz and Maria (Burgess) Molinar. He attended a one room school house in Texas. Alfonso went to work at the age of 16. He married Teresa Villanueva on December 7, 1945 in Ft. Davis, TX. Alfonso was a cement finisher and heavy equipment operator. He worked for Eddy County many years where he retired in 1983. Alfonso enjoyed his hunting and camping trips. He also enjoyed cooking turkey and dressing and chili rellenos. Alfonso loved his horses, but he especially loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Teresa Molinar; son, Adan Molinar and grandson, Alan Molinar. Survivors are six children: Antonio Molinar and wife, Delma of Alpine, TX, Rita Ramirez and husband, David of El Paso, TX, Alfonso Molinar, Jr. and wife, Connie of Carlsbad, NM, Eva Hinijos and husband, Aldofo of Carlsbad, NM, Emma Irizarry and husband, Ruben of Carlsbad, NM, Alva Yochum of Carlsbad, NM; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Ernestina Hernandez and husband, Jesus of Devine, TX. Pallbearers are John Vasquez, Debbie Walker, Jimmy Vasquez, Bernie Morales, Travis Yochum, Jonathan Uranga. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
