Alexia A. Garza, 23, passed away August 10, 2024 at her home in Loving, NM. 

Visitation will be 2:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited 9:30 AM, Monday, August 19, 2024 at Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Center and funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM with Pastor Howell Scott officiating. Burial will take place at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.

Alexia was born May 24, 2001 in Phoenix, AZ. While in Carlsbad schools she played volleyball, softball and ran track. Alexia graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2019 and attended NMSU. She worked at Alibi and later TLC Home Health and Hospice. Alexia was always the life of the party and her infectious smile was contagious. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends and absolutely loved her dog, Chanel.

 Alexia was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jose’ Avina, Julian “Red” Garza and great grandmother, Magdalena Calderon.

Survivors are her mother, Patty Avina and Daniel Valdez; sisters, Anessa Luna, Alyssa Garza and Miseal Serrano, Kaitlan White and husband Buddy, Brooke Parrish; brothers, Austin “Gunner” Valdez, Tyler Valdez; father, J.J. Garza and wife, Ashley; her dog, Chanel; nieces, Alianna, Avery Ann, Analicia; grandmothers, Socorro Calderon, Martha Garza; aunt and uncles, Brandie Garza, Carlos and Savanah Avina, John and Jennifer Garza and numerous cousins and extended family.

 Pallbearers will be Brayden Rieser, Hunter Bratcher, Trustin Bratcher, Frankie Duncan, Bryan Robles, Miseal Serrano, Kike Solis and Tyler Valdez. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Duncan, Jacob Duncan, Nate Najar, Austin Valdez and John Garza, Jr.
