Alexander James Gonzalez was called home to his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2024 in Lubbock, TX, where he was surrounded by family and friends. 

Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a vigil to follow at 6:00 at Denton Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Oasis Church in Carlsbad, NM with Pastor Gabe Rubio officiating. Interment will follow at the Loving Cemetery in Loving, NM. 

Alex was Born on March 8, 1999 in Carlsbad, NM, to Donata Poppy and Ryan Gonzalez. He graduated from Loving High School in 2017 where he graduated with honors and was a star player on the Loving Falcons Basketball Team #20. After graduation, Alex went on to work in the construction field and had many other talents. He had a heart of pure gold and a great sense of humor, always making us laugh. He loved his family and had a strong faith in Jesus. 

Alex is survived by his son, Lucah Rai Alexander Gonzalez; partner, Ayanna Campos of Carlsbad, NM; parents, Donata ‘Deedee’ Poppy-Miller and husband, Michael of Midland, TX; father, Ryan Gonzalez of Loving, NM; sisters, Sunnie Rai McCormack and Ave' Marie Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM; grandfather, James Crump of Carlsbad, NM; grandmother, Barbara Ania Kessler and G'Pa Pete of Alamogordo, NM; grandparents, Ray and Lisa Gonzalez of Loving, NM; great grandmother, Elodia Gonzalez of Loving, NM and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Tony and Joan Ania of Cleveland, OH, Ralph and Mary Hurst of Flint, MI, George and Pat Crump of Carlsbad, NM, Ramon Gonzalez of Loving, NM; cousin, Alyanna Gonzalez of Loving, NM, and uncle, Kino Gonzalez of Loving, NM. 

Pallbearers are Ramon Gonzalez, Kota Gonzalez, Rider Gonzalez, Patrick Hernandez, Joel Hernandez and Nicholas Brown.

A celebration of Alex’s Life will be held at the Loving Community Center following services.
