Alberto D. "Shorty" Ornelas, of S Third Street, Loving, New Mexico, passed away December 6, 2013 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, NM A Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, December 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv., officiating. Internment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Alberto D. "Shorty" Ornelas was born April 19, 1937 in Loving, New Mexico to Cruz Ornelas and Angela Duran. Alberto liked to fish, hunt, enjoyed dancing and loved baseball. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucia O. Navarette; brothers, David D. Ornelas, Mike D. Ornelas, and Cruz Ornelas Jr. Survivors are his wife, Maria Ornelas of Loving NM; children: Sylvia O. Dominguez of Loving, NM, Cruz O. Ornelas and wife, Sandra of Loving, NM, Orlando O. Ornelas and wife, Kerry of Colorado, Annabel O. Ornelas of Loving, NM, Lorinda O. Aguilar and husband, Ruben of Carlsbad, NM, and Alberto O. Ornelas Jr. and wife, Andrea of Carlsbad, NM; brother; Ray Ornelas; sisters: Isabel O. Vasquez, Maria Luz O. Murillo, Criselda O. Johnson, Angie O. Ramirez, Gloria Ornelas, Sally O. Estrada, Rosa Elva O. Molina, and Rosa Linda O. Vasquez; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Cruz Ornelas, Orlando Ornelas, Alberto Ornelas Jr., Cruz Ornelas Jr., Ruben Aguilar, Jaime Quinonez, and Ray Ornelas. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Ornelas and Joey Munoz.
