Albert "Birdie" Rodriguez, 55, of Hays Dr. Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2014 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2014 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Albert "Birdie" Rodriguez was born September 10, 1958 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Angel C. Rodriguez and Zenaida (Terrazas) Rodriguez. He graduated from Carlsbad High School. On May 5, 1978 Birdie married Emily Vasquez. He worked as a welder for 20 years at URS. Birdie was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors are his wife, Emily Rodriguez of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughter: Angela Markham and husband Jason of Frisco, Texas; father: Angel C. Rodriguez, Sr. of Carlsbad, New Mexico; grandchildren: Camden and Taylen; brothers: Angel C. Rodriguez, Jr., Armando T. Rodriguez, and Alfred T. Rodriguez; sister: Patsy Rodriguez, father-in-law: Epie M. Vasquez, and mother-in-law: Maria H Vasquez. and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jason Markham, Ruben Mireles, Sam Matta, Angel Rodriguez, Jr., Alfred Rodriguez, and Armando Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers are URS Co-workers.
