A.D. McNeely, 91, formerly of Carlsbad, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Friday, February 15, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 15, 2013, 3:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Pence of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A.D. McNeely was born on November 5, 1921, in Floydada, Texas to Jess and Vada (Brown) McNeely. He served as staff sergeant in the Army during WWII. He worked in the potash mine for 35 years before retiring and moving to Las Cruces, NM. A.D. was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He was also a member of the Good Sams and a member of First Baptist Church in Las Cruces. A.D. loved to travel in his RV and enjoyed fishing. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and provider for his family. A.D. was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Alvin McNeely in 2010. Survivors are his wife, Vione McNeely of Las Cruces, New Mexico; son, Rellmon McNeely and wife, Jutta of Las Cruces, New Mexico; daughter, Jackie Trotter of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Kelsey Misquez, Jessica Coon, Dana Ewing, Kent Ewing, Mackie Ragsdal and Warren McNeely; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jessie Gough of Weatherford, Texas.
